Alison Bell and Excellent Development Charity Documentary

Monday 5th February 2007

Alison Bell

This month, the Community Channel will be airing a documentary about the work of British-based African development charity - Excellent Development.

The film is the work of LBC (London’s leading talk radio station Presenter and former ITV, Sky News and CNN International news anchor - Alison Bell.  In September 2006 she traveled to Kenya with the charity to present, produce, write and co-direct a 30 minute documentary featuring the work of the charity.

This is not the first project of this kind Alison has been involved with. In March 2005 she visited Zambia and Malawi with the charity Harvest Help. Alison wrote, co-produced and narrated a 17 minute film celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harvest Help. The documentary was launched at a celebrity party, hosted by the High Commissioners of Zambia and Malawi and attended by well known personalities.  Harvest Help has subsequently grown from a small to a medium size charity.

Alison hopes for similar success with Excellent Development. She believes that charities with the ability to teach Africans new skills are far more beneficial than charities which simply ‘hand-out’ help with no effort required.  She is also averse to large charities with high administration costs – as the money does not go to the right people.  Alison stresses that charities which work independently of often corrupt African governments are her preference.

ALISON BELL BIOGRAPHY

Alison Bell

Alison has had an impressive career as a Television and Radio presenter for over 20 years. She continues to broadcast regularly in the UK for the London based talk radio station LBC, continues to work for many global broadcasters and now also plans, produces and presents documentaries and corporate films.

In July 2004, the freelance broadcaster was involved in a tabloid scandal here in the UK, which reverberated around the world.  The resulting media mayhem dramatically affected her life and work.  No charges were ever laid and no further action was taken in her case. She was not guilty of any of the accusations made so publicly by a papparazzi photographer. The entire episode was a media concoction - a wrong place, wrong time, with the wrong person scenario!

In light of those events – it became apparent to Alison that other options were available and as a result - Globell Media was born!  Alison is the Managing Director of Globell Media - a company dedicated to training VIP’s, diplomats, politicians, business executives, public spokespeople and presenters in the art of dealing with today's fast moving, 24 hour media environment.  She is also a consultant for a number of the world's top Public Relations companies.

Having experienced both sides of the coin, Alison has a very unique selling proposition and an invaluable tool for teaching clients how to handle both good and bad publicity.  She also retains an unblemished record within the media industry, the respect of all her colleagues, access to invaluable global contacts and endless goodwill.

For further information see www.globellmedia.com, which describes Alison's concept of media training.
