The 11th annual ELLE Style Awards in association with H&M was, as always, a glamorous affair. Held at The Westway in West London this year's ceremony celebrated the best in young British talent.
The film of the year – Atonement – saw both its lead actors scoop awards. Keira Knightley walked away with 'Best Actress', whilst her co-star James McAvoy won 'Best Actor'.
This year also saw the introduction of the inaugural 'H&M Style Visionary Award'. The category was created by sponsors H&M who wanted to award someone who has influenced and established themselves in the fashion and design industry, someone who has renowned style credentials and acclaimed production's and projects.
The first recipient of the honour was stylist, creative director and photographer William Baker. Baker is possibly most well known for his work with Kylie Minogue, his direction of Rent and more recently turning his eye to film. It was a double celebration for the friends - capping off a year that saw the release of her tenth studio album, 'X', and an OBE for services to music. Kylie Minogue was awarded the 'Woman of the Year' award.
In the music categories, one of the most exciting female singer-songwriters on the music scene Kate Nash was awarded 'Best Music Act' and indie pop band The Feeling added the 'Best Music Band' to their accolades.
Designer Henry Holland presented his muse Agyness Deyn the award for 'Best Model'. 2007 was a break out year for Agyness. Although a model for a number of years, this year saw her meteoric ascent and the establishment of her title 'chameleon of fashion'.
The winners weren't all British; one of the biggest awards of the night, 'Elle Style Icon', went to acclaimed actress Kate Hudson for her distinctive, kooky style.
This year's ceremony also played host to a music performance (for the first time ever) by Roisin Murphy. Murphy set the stage alight with the performance of two tracks including new single 'You Know Me Better'.
The 'Outstanding Achievement Award' went to Anya Hindmarch, presented by fashion icon Twiggy. Hindmarch has had enormous success recently with her eco-initiative 'I am not a plastic bag', but over the years has garnered a huge following from dedicated fashionistas for her handbags.
2008 was widely acknowledged as one of the best Elle Style Awards yet. A-list guests including Naomi Campbell, David Walliams, Kelly Brook, Naomie Harris, Francesca Versace and Jaime Winstone, partied into the early hours of the morning at the after-party, while enjoying Godiva chocolate, Ketel One cocktails and Moet goodies.
