Galaxy British Book Awards 2009

ANOTHER MAJORITY VOTE FOR OBAMA
Barack’s book reaches summit of success at star studded

Galaxy British Book Awards

The Galaxy British Book Awards are the Oscars of the book trade, where the glitterati and the literati mix. The event, held at London’s Grosvenor House was hosted by Richard & Judy and filmed by Cactus Television on Friday April 3rd 2009.

The Galaxy British Book Awards, started by Publishing News Ltd. in 1990, are the only awards which take votes from both the book-buying public and the Academy of the British book industry, made up of publishers, booksellers, past winners and other representatives of the British book industry.

Four categories in this year’s Galaxy British Book Awards have been won by Independent publishers. Edinburgh based publisher, Canongate won Tesco Biography of the Year with Dreams From My Father by
Barack Obama. Bloomsbury and Atlantic Books also had winners with Kate Summerscale winning the Play.Com Popular Non-Fiction award for her novel The Suspicions of Mr Whicher (Bloomsbury) and Aravind Adiga’s novel White Tiger winning Borders Author of the Year for Atlantic Books.
