Q AWARDS 2009
With RUSSIAN STANDARD VODKA
Muse, Kasabian, U2, Arctic Monkeys, Lily Allen, Spandau Ballet, Lady GaGa, The Specials, Yusuf and Robert Plant all winners at music’s most prestigious awards ceremony.
Monday 26th October – The Q Awards with Russian Standard Vodka kicked off in spectacular style, with the UK’s biggest music magazine honouring the biggest stars both international and homegrown.
Al Murray took on hosting duties in his guise of Britain’s most famous pub landlord. He first graced the Q stage last year where he presented a vertigo-impaired Meat Loaf with his Classic Track gong for Bat Out Of Hell. Murray made such an impression he was immediately signed up to front this year’s ceremony.
The stellar guest list at London’s Grosvenor Hotel included: Muse, Kasabian, Lily Allen, Robert Plant, Pixie Lott, Yusuf, Spandau Ballet, The Specials, Marianne Faithfull, Sonic Youth, Mr Hudson, The Noisettes and many more.
Handing out the golden Qs were such noted presenters as Gary Numan, Corinne Bailey Rae, Justin Lee Collins, Jamie T, Zane Lowe, Jarvis Cocker, Sophie Ellis Bextor, James Blunt, Fearne Cotton and Stereophonics man Kelly Jones.
