BRAND AND CHURCH ARE CROWNED ‘KING AND QUEEN OF COMEDY’ AT LOADED COMEDY AWARDS IN ASSOCIATION WITH NIVEA FOR MEN 2006

LAFTA Awards

Having been voted for in their thousands by readers of Loaded Magazine, snake hipped Russell Brand has been crowned Funniest Man following the success of his cult shows on E4. Whilst Wales’ favourite export Charlotte Church claims the accolade of Funniest TV Personality in this year’s Loaded Laftas.

Dynamic duo Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr walk off with two of the top awards; Funniest TV Show and Funniest Double Act beating off competition from others such as big breasted beauty Jordan and husband Peter Andre.

This years Loaded LAFTAS Legend award goes to everyone’s favourite couch potato Ricky Tomlinson.

Ricky said: I’m well chuffed. It’s gear. I’d rather get a pat on the back than a smack on the chin. I think it’s lovely and I’m made up. I’m quite a sex symbol as you know.”

Ricky has taken the iconic baton from last year’s winner and household name Bruce Forsyth.

“Well we’re very similar aren’t we? We’re both very very versatile we’re both very good looking and we’re both over the age of 85. We can both sing, dance. But no I feel very flattered actually to be in the same category as Bruce Forsyth, I think he’s a wonderful entertainer.”

One of the most enduring battles for supremacy over the years has between Radio one DJ’s Chris Moyles and Scott Mills for Best Radio Show ; This year’s award goes to the ‘saviour of Radio 1’s’ Chris Moyles for his breakfast show and puts him three – one ahead of Scott Mills.

Smooth tongued Jimmy Carr cements his place as one of the cream of the comedy crop by picking up this year’s award for Best Stand Up, having walked off with the title of Funniest Man last year.

Funniest Woman goes to the best known extra in the business Ashley Jensen who had this to say about her award:

“Well! LOADED!  What can I say? Just tell the boys and readers of Loaded that I Ashley Jensen am truly honoured to be awarded number 69 in the UK's sexiest women poll with the most fantastic... What? An award for being funny? Oh, well ok, thanks!!!”

Hyperactive love islander Paul Danan wins his first Lafta Award with the title of Funniest Reality TV Personality.

Brit Flick favourite Severance, with the likes of Danny Dyer and co, wins Funniest Film, an award picked up by the League of Gentleman last year.

The incorrigible doctors from Green Wing pick up their award for Funniest DVD for Series One of their hit comedy with the final award going to the talented crew over at Soccer AM for Funniest Website – www.socceram.net

Loaded Editor Martin Daubney said, “Four years into the Loaded LAFTAS, this has been a stonking 12 months for having a laugh and. It’s good to see so many different comedians and entertainers awarded here – the loaded readers clearly cannot get enough voting in record numbers. If men are bricks, laughter and lager are the mortar that binds us all together.”
