The InterContinental London Park Lane marked its official launch this evening with a star-studded extravaganza attended by over 500 people from around the world. The glittering event, hosted by legendary impressionist Rory Bremner and headlined by soul singer Beverley Knight, celebrated the reopening of the hotel following a £76 million refurbishment, all in support of UK charity Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy.
Roland Fasel, General Manager of the InterContinental London Park Lane, says the reopening of the hotel marks the beginning of a new era in hospitality.
“We’re extremely excited we’ve just completed this major renovation project. It’s taken us two years to create what will be the flagship hotel of the InterContinental brand. We wanted to create a fresh, energising and different hotel, and I believe we’ve done that. Not only does the hotel have a contemporary and stylish new design, but we’ve also assembled a group of associates focussed on delivering only the best to our guests. This party is just the first step in what will make us stand out on Park Lane,” said Fasel.
The gala event was held in the hotel’s new ballroom whose contemporary design makes it unique to Park Lane. Amongst the guests who attended were celebrities Martin Freeman, Dame Kelly Holmes, Vanessa Feltz, Linzi Stoppard, Esther Rantzen, Ainsley Harriott, Anneka Rice, Anton du Beke (Strictly Come Dancing), Dr. Miriam Stoppard and Tony Hadley.
Guests were treated to food by legendary Theo Randall - former head chef at River Café - who now has his own restaurant at the hotel, as well as the hotel’s Executive Chef Michel Gehrig. They also enjoyed performances by electric violinist Linzi Stoppard and musical and dance acts from around the world that celebrated the diversity and success of the InterContinental Hotel Group.
To top off the evening, there was also a luxury auction and a casino in which raised thousands of pounds for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Providing support to local charities is an important mission going forward for the InterContinental London Park Lane.
“We are so happy to have been able to support Nordoff-Robbins, which has had such an incredible impact throughout the UK,” commented Fasel. “In fact, this party not only celebrates the reopening of the new hotel, it also marks the launch of a new charity initiative we are undertaking called the London Party. Each year, the London Party will be a chance for us to bring together our friends to support key British-based charities. We are looking forward to other such great events in the future.”
