11th June 2003

Bookstores in the USA opened their doors one minute after midnight on Monday 9th June 2003 to let in people desperate to get their hands on the most eagerly anticipated book in recent history. The book in question is not about a young wizard called Harry Potter, but rather a collection of memoirs by former First-Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton entitled ‘Living History‘ in which she talks about the affair her husband, Bill Clinton, enjoyed with Monica Lewinsky. Due to this, the book is widely expected to become the biggest and fastest selling non-fictional publication in history, something that publisher Simon & Schuster will be more than satisfied with, given that they paid Hillary the princely sum of $8 million. The release of her memoirs has been viewed as a sign that senator Hillary Clinton is gearing up for a possible presidential election campaign by which she will attempt to become the first female president of the USA.
