MORE BRITS ON LIST THAN EVER BEFORE
David Beckham makes his first appearance in 56th place
Friends star Jennifer Aniston is ranked as the most powerful celebrity on the planet in the latest Forbes Global Celebrity 100 list.
The list, to be published in the forthcoming issue of Forbes Global magazine (out June 30), ranks the 100 most powerful public figures in the world.
England star David Beckham, who recently transferred to Real Madrid, makes the list for the first time, coming in at number 56. Controversial rap artist Eminem makes his debut at number 2.
And, with a total of seven, there are more British entries on the list than ever before.
Paul McCartney takes the sixth slot, with the Rolling Stones in tenth place. The Osbourne Family, with Birmingham-born Ozzy Osbourne as head of the family, are in 12th place and Harry Potter author J K Rowling comes in at 15. Other Brits are pop star Robbie Williams (37th place) and Simon Cowell (84).
Also included from this side of the Atlantic: Michael Schumacher, Anna Kournikova, Heidi Klum, Martina Hingis and Milla Jovovich
The members of the Celebrity 100 are awarded a power ranking which gives most weight to celebrity earnings over the past twelve months, and also factors in other popularity metrics including Internet presence, press clippings, magazine cover stories and mentions on television and radio.
Last year‘s number 1, pop princess Britney Spears has fallen off the list completely, while Jennifer climbed to first position from a modest number 28 in 2002. Her husband, Brad Pitt, does not appear on the list. Other Friends actors also do well on the list. Matthew Perry is 25th, Lisa Kudrow 30th and Courteney Cox is 41st. The "power couple", according to the Forbes Global list, are Jennifer Lopez (ranked 5th) and Ben Affleck (7th).
