Kylie Minogue - launches new album in Paris

Friday 24th October 2003

 Kylie in Paris yesterday

Kylie Minogue launched her new album "Body Language" in a Paris hotel yesterday. The album has been hailed by critics as a huge progression for Minogue and sees her moving away from her usual catchy dance tunes. Asked what we can expect from her 9th studio album, she replied that there are no thumping dance tracks on Body Language and that the album has more of a ‘funk‘ feel to it. Kylie even confessed that she is much more relaxed about this release in comparison to 2001‘s "Fever" and 2000‘s  "Light Years".

Following on from previously unsuccessful attempts to contemporise Minogue, for example 1998‘s "Impossible Princess" for the DeConstruction label, Parlophone‘s A&Ring for the new album proved to be a careful and thorough procedure. "It feels like a definite move on from the last album, without losing sight of the quality control on the songs," says Parlophone managing director Miles Leonard.

The album is a move in a new direction for Minogue and features collaborations with Ms Dynamite, dance guru Curtis Mantronix, Karen Pool from Alisha‘s Attic, Ash Thomas (aka Baby Ash) and Mr Dan. "It had to be something fresh" states A&R manager Jamie Nelson who worked alongside Kylie on the albums formation. "It wasn‘t just a case of getting all the publishers to send round their songs. We were more interested in people collaborating with Kylie herself to create something new."

The album will be released in the UK, Europe and Australia on November 17th, and in the US in February 2004.
