The 22 year old from Chichester was recently presented with the prestigious BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. The first male ever to win the award, Tom follows in the footsteps of past recipients including Adele (2008) and Florence and the Machine (2009).
Speaking about the album Tom said, “I hope the album feels human and real and that there are some flaws – because the flaws help make it what it is. Really, I’d love to live in a time when music felt uncontrived and imperfect and gave people a real sense of elevation. When it’s sad I want it to be REALLY sad. When it’s happy I want it to feel euphoric…I suppose I want the record to express the heightened feelings and emotions we all get in our lives”.
Tracklisting as follows:
1. Grow Old With Me
2. Hold Me
3. Another Love
4. I Know
5. Sense
6. Can’t Pretend
7. Till I Lost
8. Supposed To Be
9. Long Way Down
10. Sirens
More about Tom Odell
Signed by Lily Rose Cooper to her label In The Name Of (ITNO), 2012 saw Tom make his TV debut on Later with Jools Holland with a stunning performance of his hugely acclaimed track “Another Love”. A whirlwind of nominations, including the BBC Sound of 2013 Poll and MTV Brand New for 2013 shortlists, surrounding the release of his debut EP “Songs From Another Love” spawned comparisons by critics to the likes of Jeff Buckley and early Bowie. Tom’s combined love of film and literature (which range through classics like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Kerouac to Woody Allen and Wes Anderson) also inform his debut album.
“This raw and poignant piano-led song [Hold Me] is an indicator of what to expect from the rest of this 22-year-old singer-songwriter’s debut album. Not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve, Odell proves himself a master of both joy and despair” – The Sun
"Another Love is genuinely chilling…Can't Pretend's gothic atmospherics, febrile melodramatics and sense of imminent collapse recall, variously, Bowie, early Ed Harcourt and Muse. Engrossing" - Sunday Times Culture
"This piano-playing heart-throb was given the seal of approval by Lily Rose Cooper…and for good reason. You'll be hooked by the arresting energy of his voice" – NME
Tom embarks on his first ever sold out headline tour this March.
