Former Upfront TV researcher Tim Lovejoy brings Sky Sports soccer and showbiz to Virgin Radio

Tuesday 13th September 2005

Football-mad Sky Sports presenter and former Upfront TV researcher Tim Lovejoy will host a star-studded magazine-style sports programme on the nation’s rock and pop station, Virgin Radio.

From 28Th August, Tim will be heard on Sunday afternoons from 4pm until 7pm playing great music and interviewing top celebs from the worlds of sport and showbiz. Coinciding with the Ashes and the start of the new football season, Tim will bring life to the week’s hottest sporting news and views. His irreverent humour, star appeal and love of sport will connect well with Virgin Radio’s key national 25-44 year old audience.

Exclusive interviews and topical features packages will be interspersed with tracks from the music we all love and Tim’s ‘impartial’ opinions on his beloved Chelsea FC. Tim’s unique personality will also attract new listeners to the station who are already hooked on his must-see Soccer AM and All Sport shows.

"Nothing gels together better than football, celebs and great music,” said Tim Lovejoy. “The Sunday afternoon slot on Virgin Radio will be exactly the right place for people to tune in for all three of these, this is set to be a cracker of a show and I can’t wait to get started.”

Paul Jackson, Acting Chief Executive at Virgin Radio added, “Our core audience are avid sports fans and will have an instant connection with Tim from their religious viewing of his TV shows. Tim’s slot will complement our firmly established Rock ‘n’ Roll Football on Saturday afternoons – it’s great to have him on board.”
