Nell McAndrew & Will Young win the ‘Stitch’s Rear of the Year’ awards
TV presenter and top model Nell McAndrew and multiple Brit Award singer Will Young are the winners of this year’s ‘Rear of the Year’ awards, presented today in London at the Carlton Tower Hotel, Knightsbridge.
This is the 23rd year of the annual awards which are sponsored by ‘Stitch’s’ jeans.
Nell, who is an ardent promoter of health and fitness and will be taking part in the Great North Run this Sunday, joins a long list of celebrity winners including Charlotte Church, Denise van Outen, Natasha Hamilton, Claire Sweeney and last year’s winner Alex Best. Her well-toned rear has obviously impressed the Great British public who voted for her on the official web site www.rearoftheyearcompetition.com.
“I’m a great believer in working hard to keep my body fit and healthy,” she said today. “To keep my rear toned I do lots of squats, lunges, running and cycling.”
“I’m absolutely thrilled,” Will said today. “I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me.”
Nell, who is the official ‘Forces Sweetheart’, now adds the ‘Rear of the Year’ award to her many accolades, including ‘Fittest Celebrity on the Planet’ [with Brad Pitt] and ‘Yorkshire Woman of the Year’.
Tony Edwards, organiser of the annual awards, said today that rears were an important fashion indicator.
“During the 1950’s a well-rounded, larger rear, typified by Monroe, was the fashion while, just a decade later, the rear was small and neat like ‘Twiggy’. In the fitness-conscious 21st century, a well-toned, firm, athletic rear, is very much in style and seems destined to remain so for a while to come.”
The ‘Rear of the Year’ is a Registered Trade Mark number 2180937.
