GO THE EXTRA MILE THIS SUMMER
Sport Relief Sprints Back Into Action

The nation is limbering up for the return of Sport Relief on Saturday July 15th – and it promises to be an unforgettable day.

A sea of people, including many a famous face, will be Going the Extra Mile on Sport Relief Saturday at events taking place in every nook and cranny of the UK.

With Comic Relief and BBC Sport both behind the campaign, there is a very special night of BBC ONE TV in the pipeline too - fronted by Chris Evans, Davina McCall, and Gary Lineker.

Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile

Sitting at the heart of the whole campaign the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is going to see tens of thousands of people simultaneously going the distance and helping to raise cash for those that need it most.

Whether jogging, skipping or hopping with friends, family or workmates right across the land, Sport Relief Milers will be putting their best foot forward at events across 15 major cities (listed below) as well as at hundreds more locally-organised sites too.

With the last Sport Relief Mile in 2004 attracting 81,000 milers including Princes William and Harry and Prime Minister Tony Blair, everyone from teenagers in trendy trainers to families in fancy dress are being urged to enter a place on the start line at www.sportrelief.com. So get sponsored and help raise lots of cash for vulnerable people leading tough lives here at home in the UK, and in the poorest countries in the world.

“I’ve seen Sport Relief money at work. Now it is your turn for action. By being sponsored to take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile just think of the difference you will be making, the weight you will be losing and the blisters you will be gaining! Do it. It’s worth it.”
Chris Evans

You could even find yourself on TV! Live coverage on the morning of Saturday July 15th from the 15 ‘flagship’ Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Miles will be beamed across the UK on BBC ONE’s The Mile Show.

Do the Mile in style

As soon as you sign up for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile you’ll be sent your own special red sock to wear on the big day. Once you’ve completed your Mile you’ll be presented with a second to make a perfect pair and show the world that you’ve socked it to poverty! But it’s not only your feet that can look the part – whether you’re a Miler or just want to show your support for Sport Relief, there’s a range of merchandise to choose from:

T-shirts: with the Sport Relief range of t-shirts you can create a winning look and/or team. Produced from Fairtrade cotton, there are stylish designs for all the family: a men’s, women’s and children’s version. Priced £8 for adults and £6 for kids, £3 and £2 respectively will go to Sport Relief.

Roger: Kids will be going ‘clackers’ over Roger, the must-have accessory for Summer 2006. Roger can fit as an adornment to your favourite pair of trainers, be worn as a bracelet, dangled from your bag or even your mobile – wherever little Roger ends up though, he’s bound to make himself heard! Priced £1, a minimum of 70p will go to Sport Relief.

Roger Pin Badge: The Sport Relief mascot is also available as a very cool little badge. Priced £1, a minimum of 70p will go to Sport Relief.

All of the Sport Relief merchandise is exclusively available on the high street at Sainsbury’s stores, and online at www.sportrelief.com. So sprint down to your local store or log on!  Items will be available from 3rd May (t-shirts will hit the shelves at Sainsbury’s on 25 May).
