The Serpentine Gallery and Yves Saint Laurent co-hosted The Summer Party at the Serpentine Gallery, Kensington Gardens, London on Tuesday 11th July. This annual fund-raiser has become the highlight of London’s social season and is attended by the world’s biggest names in film, music, fashion and art.
The Party took place on the Serpentine Gallery lawn and in the internationally acclaimed architectural Pavilion – this year designed by Rem Koolhaas and Cecil Balmond, with Arup.
Guests included the Countess of Albemarle, Saffron Aldridge, Lisa B, Matthew Barney, Mischa Barton, Ozwald Boateng, Yasmin and Simon le Bon, Amira Casar, Claire Danes, Olafur Eliasson, Tracey Emin, Linda Evangelista, Rupert Everett, Mariella Frostrup, David Furnish, Douglas Gordon, Antony Gormley, India Hicks, Damien Hirst, Rhys Ifans, Jade Jagger, Jay Kay, Tim Jefferies, Anish Kapoor, Diane Kruger, Juliette Lewis, Elle Macpherson, Grayson Perry, Stefano Pilati, Tom & Laura Parker Bowles, Nick Rhodes, Salman Rushdie, Dougray Scott, Kristin Scott Thomas, Zadie Smith, Margo Stilley, Tilda Swinton, Juergen Teller, Stella Tennant, Natalia Vodianova, Rachel Whiteread, Harvey Weinstein, Lady Gabriella Windsor, and Jane & Louise Wilson.
Guests enjoyed Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle Champagne and cocktails including; the Cosmopolitenne, the classic grey goose Fleur de Lis and Vodka Martini, Appleton Passion Fruit Mojito and Raspberry Daquiri prepared by famous mixologists.
Music was provided by internationally renowned British DJ Dan Lywood and a special Yoko Ono limited edition torch which reads “I love you” in morse code was given to guests during the evening.
The entire design concept was created by Stefano Pilati, Creative Director, Yves Saint Laurent. Inspired by femininity and celebrating the beauty of women; the environment was infused by an intense rose pink, hundreds of Yves Saint Laurent signature painted flowers and 15 towering Yves Saint Laurent girls over 6 feet tall dressed head-to-toe in pink taffeta tunics.
Proceeds from this sell-out party, described by Vogue as ‘the best party of the year’ go towards the Serpentine’s famous Programmes of modern and contemporary Art, Architecture and Education.
