Marsha Thomason
British born actress MARSHA THOMASON first began acting at the age of 12 when she joined the Oldham Theatre Workshop. What began as a hobby soon helped her to achieve her first professional acting job at the age of 15, when she starred in The 8:15 from Manchester. MARSHA continued her education and took three ‘A‘ Levels before studying for a BA in English from Manchester Metropolitan University. It was this time that her acting career really took off, so she decided to cut her studies short at the end of her second year.
MARSHA left university in 1997 at the age of 19 to star in "Prime Suspect 5" (ITV), alongside HELEN MIRREN. Later that year, MARSHA appeared in "Brazen Hussies" (BBC 1) with JULIE WALTERS and ROBERT LINDSAY. This was followed by a six-month contract playing Sally in the BBC’s popular series "Pie in the Sky", starring RICHARD GRIFFITHS.
MARSHA gained further public and professional recognition when she appeared in the second series of the popular ITV drama, "Where the Heart Is" in 1998. It was during this time that viewers got a second chance to see MARSHA on their screens when she joined the cast of BBC 1’s successful series "Playing the Field". MARSHA received great acclaim for her performance as Shazza in the drama about an all-female football team. She starred in three series, which were transmitted from 1998-2000.
In 1999, she appeared in Channel 4’s "Love in the 21st Century". Made by Red Productions ("Queer As Folk" and "Clocking Off") the series of six programmes provided a collection of adult moral tales. MARSHA played the role of Louise in the episode “Threesomes” which followed the story of two twenty-something super babes, whose relationship is put to the test when they both fall for the same charming doctor.
In April 2000, MARSHA made her professional stage debut at The Royal Court Theatre, London, in Breath, Boom. Appearing as Cat, MARSHA played a vulnerable 15 year-old who thought being part of a New York girl gang was essential for her to be accepted. MARSHA returned to the small screen later that year, starring as "Denie in Guess Who’s Not Coming to Dinner" (BBC 2). This 10 minute drama was part of the “Table 12” series which was set around a table in a London restaurant.
In the fall of 2001 MARSHA made her U.S. film debut in 20th Century Fox’s "Black Knight", starring opposite MARTIN LAWRENCE.
