WAGs BOUTIQUE OPENS FOR BUSINESS
Broadcast on ITV2, Tuesdays from 30th January at 9pm
Presented by June Sarpong, get ready for handbags at dawn as two competing teams of the ‘Wives and Girlfriends’ of Britain’s footballers switch from browsing the shelves to stocking them as they set up and run two rival fashion boutiques in central London. From designing the store and choosing the stock to marketing and perfecting their sales techniques, the ten girls will need determination, flair and a head for business if they are to succeed. After 13 weeks the boutique with the highest profits wins, with all profits going to a charity of the girls’ choosing. WAGs Boutique is new and exclusive to ITV2, Tuesdays from 30 January, 9pm.
To make the rivalry between the teams even more intense, the boutiques are situated next to one another near London’s uber-trendy Carnaby Street. With each team having decided on a name for their shops, both ‘Bows’ and ‘Better Half’ look set to become as talked about as Liverpool’s famous Cricket boutique. The shops will be open to the public every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 February.
Bows – 33 Marshall Street
Madeleine Bowden (Miss Justin Hoyte, Arsenal)
Michaela Henderson-Thynne (Miss Stewart Downing, Middlesbrough)
Julie Phillips (Mrs Kevin Phillips, West Bromich Albion)
Krystell Sidwell (Mrs Steven Sidwell, Reading)
Nicola T (Miss Bobby Zamora, West Ham)
Better Half – 34 Marshall Street
Jadene Bircham (Mrs Marc Bircham, QPR)
Elle Isaac (Miss Paul Ifill, Crystal Palace)
Charlotte Mears (Miss Jermain Defoe, Spurs)
Cassie Sumner (Miss Michael Essien, Chelsea)
Heather Swan (Soon-to-be-Mrs Michael Chopra, Cardiff)
The WAGs will be overseen by two experienced mentors who will guide the individual teams towards success while offering advice and criticism. Anna Park will advise the WAGs running Bows while Lyn Gardner will mentor Better Half. To get the shops up and running, the WAGs will need to agree on a variety of key decisions. What type of customers do they want to attract? What brands should they stock? What do they want it to look like? Sparks will surely fly as the girls battle to agree on a huge range of ideas.
The team with the biggest profit at the end of the series will be announced as the winners. The winning team of WAGs will then choose a charity of their choice to receive the profit made from both shops.
Everyone knows WAGs can shop ‘til they drop but now the Jimmy Choo’s are on the other foot and the girls are out to prove they can be just as good on the other side of the till. Have the WAGs bitten off more than their professionally whitened teeth can chew or do they think running a shop will be as easy as maxing out a platinum credit card? With big names dropping in to surprise the girls and weekly tasks to stretch their fashion know-how, WAGs Boutique looks set to blaze a trail through the fashion world this January.
