GHOST RIDER SETS US BOX OFFICE ON FIRE AND BECOMES BEST OPENING WEEKEND EVER FOR NICOLAS CAGE

Ghost Rider blazed its way to box office success in the US this weekend taking the number one spot with an estimated $44.5 million over its first three days.  The opening is the biggest in Cage’s successful career, beating past box office hits National Treasure, and Gone in 60 Seconds and becoming the biggest opening weekend in the US so far this year.

From Marvel Comics, creators of Spider-Man™, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, comes one of most unique mythologies in the comic book universe Ghost Rider™. Long ago, superstar motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) made a deal with the devil to protect the ones he loved most: his father and his childhood sweetheart, Roxanne (Eva Mendes).  Now, the devil has come for his due.  By day, Johnny is a die-hard stunt rider... but at night, in the presence of evil, he becomes the Ghost Rider, a bounty hunter of rogue demons.  Forced to do the devil's bidding, Johnny is determined to confront his fate and use his curse and powers to defend the innocent.

Ghost Rider™ stars Nicolas Cage (National Treasure, Gone in 60 Seconds), Eva Mendes (2 Fast 2 Furious, Hitch), Wes Bentley (American Beauty), Sam Elliott (Hulk), Donal Logue (Blade) and Peter Fonda (The Limey, Easy Rider)

Columbia Pictures Presents in association with Crystal Sky Pictures in association with Relativity Media a Marvel Studios / Michael De Luca production, Ghost Rider™.  Directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil), the film is produced by Avi Arad, Steven Paul, Michael De Luca, and Gary Foster.  The Screen Story and Screenplay are by Mark Steven Johnson, based on the Marvel Comic.

Ghost Rider will be released across the UK by Sony Pictures Releasing on 2nd March 2007.
