The Agency is a new fly-on-the-wall documentary that follows the staff of world-renowned modelling agency, Wilhelmina Models.
In a no-holds barred exposé, MTV goes ‘off catwalk’ and into the outrageous world of modelling. The Agency reveals the back stabbing and bitching that goes on behind the scenes at Wilhelmina Models, a top modelling agency based in New York, in a new seven-part series that launches on MTV on Sunday 18th February at 9pm.
Forget the beautiful people – who are the end product of a highly competitive industry - the real stars of The Agency are the staff at Wilhelmina. They reveal the not so beautiful story behind the world’s most beautiful faces.
Meet Sean – President at Wilhelmina Models who juggles the pressure to make his business work with managing the vicious infighting between his own staff – Pink, the straight talking Head of the women’s high-end division, and his nemesis - sharp tongued, arrogant British booker Becky, whose own brand of tough love with the girls on her books often leaves everyone stunned. Littered with explosive comments, Becky tells one super thin model, “If you cared as much about your career as you do about breakfast - then we’d all be happy!”
Sweet, downtrodden assistant Lola is often caught in the crossfire of the tempestuous relationship between Pink and Becky. However Lola will reveal that even kittens have their claws. In stark contrast there is the successful men’s high-end division run by Greg and bookers Carlos, Lorri and Anita.
Competition between the two teams is fierce with the men’s division continually reaping the rewards of its success while the women’s board struggle to reach the same level and survive in this cut-throat industry.
Both the agent’s and models livelihood’s depend on delivering the young naïve, flighty, sometimes hugely impressionable boys and girls on time and looking fabulous, to the agency's demanding clients.
On the catwalk, at client meetings and on casting calls, egos run amok. But with hundreds of thousands of dollars at stake, the staff at Wilhelmina have to work hard to make sure everything runs smoothly and that those all important targets are met.
From New York to Milan, The Agency will provide a wildly entertaining ‘fly on the wall’ look at the world of these highly-strung puppet masters as the series reaches it’s not-to-be-missed explosive climax.
