FILM WEB SENSATION ROTTEN TOMATOES COMES TO THE UK
Rotten Tomatoes, the revolutionary movie review bible famed for making and breaking the latest cinema and DVD releases has launched in the UK (https://uk.rottentomatoes.com )
By combining the reviews of thousands of critics worldwide, Rotten Tomatoes’ indispensable ‘Tomatometer’ helps fans make better movie choices by letting them know what’s officially ‘Fresh’ and what’s ‘Rotten’.
And according to the Tomatometer this year’s Oscars got it wrong. Best Picture winner The Departed scores an impressive 93% but trails Brit flick The Queen which achieves an almost flawless 98%.
Of this week’s releases, the Tomatometer says steer well clear of Eddie Murphy’s Norbit which limps in with only 10%, while David Lynch's new film Inland Empire is the best release of the weekend at 66%.
Alongside the Tomatometer, UK movie lovers can also access exclusive film news, interviews and previews, local cinema listings, the latest UK DVD reviews and releases, plus national box office takings.
This week Rotten Tomatoes talks to Sean Bean about his career, and new film Outlaw, in an exclusive online interview running alongside a report from the set of Outlaw. Other recent online exclusives include Leonardo DiCaprio, Simon Pegg, Jennifer Connelly and BAFTA-winning director Guillermo del Toro.
Rotten Tomatoes launched in the US in 1998 and has been influencing millions of cinema goers ever since. The site is the biggest film review site in the US and 85% of people using it go to the site specifically to decide which film to see in the cinema.
“The Vine,” Rotten Tomatoes’ movie message board, offers a place for people to give their opinion on the films and games they loved or loathed and currently receives over 100,000 postings a week. In the site’s numerous forums you can meet like-minded movie enthusiasts and aspiring filmmakers.
Rotten Tomatoes UK Editor Joe Utichi said, “Brits are passionate about film and Rotten Tomatoes is fast becoming a favourite site for a brutally honest guide to new releases, DVDs and games. If you need to know what films to watch and what to avoid, look no further than the Tomatometer which quickly tells you what’s Fresh and what’s Rotten.”
Site founder and US Publisher Senh Duong said, “Rotten Tomatoes’ expansion into the UK enriches the experience of our users everywhere by bringing them closer to the UK’s vibrant community of filmmakers, critics, and users.”
