It‘s late February and a new pop band are sitting in a pub in London‘s Primrose Hill, enjoying a much needed day off. Whilst you still may not have heard much from Irish five piece D-Side yet, back in their native Ireland the lads have already scored a top five hit and are causing mayhem wherever they go. "We have one goal," explains Damien, "and that‘s to make sexy pop - with an edge."

Let‘s rewind to the beginning and get the full D-Side story. Dublin boys Shane Creevey (19) and Derek Moran (18) met at stage school when they were kids, and had dreamt about forming a band for years. After a lot of hard work and persistence, last year they realised their dream. "We had a really firm idea of what we wanted to do, and we knew for sure that we wanted the band to be a five piece, so we started looking around for talented guys who had the same goals as us. We put the word about our mates and within a month we‘d all got together and something just seemed to gel.

We knew this was something special," says Shane. Shane and Derek found the perfect band members in Ryan O‘Riain (19), Damien Bowe (21), and Dane Guiden (20), and the fivesome soon set about thinking of a name. "We came up with D-Side because we wanted a name that sounds laid-back and cool, and one that hasn‘t got any baggage," explains Dane. "It was the night before we went over to London to sign our record deal, and we needed a name to put on the contract and of course the five of us were constantly texting each other like mad with loads of options on names. Then I sent a text saying ‘D-Side‘ and we all liked it so that‘s where it came from…as we couldn‘t decide on a name!"

In a spooky coincidence, shortly after D-Side formed they not only discovered that Ryan and Dane‘s mums knew each other, but that Shane and Ryan had met as kids when they performed on the Late Late Talk Show. "It has to be fate that all our paths crossed," says Dane. D-Side got their big break earlier this year when they were introduced to hot urban producers Ignorants, (Craig David, Cassius Henry). And it was at Ignorants North London studio that the band recorded their first ever demo back in January. Through Ignorants, D-Side were brought to the attention of Edel Records President Clive Black, and after hearing the demo, Black jumped on the first flight to Dublin to meet the group. He was instantly blown away with their energy, charisma and - most importantly -their vocal ability, and a deal proposal was with them within 24 hours.

Now D-Side are set to follow their debut Top 10 hit ‘Speechless‘ with the uplifting and infectious new single ‘Invisible‘ on July 14th.

The Irish charmers look set to score an even bigger hit with the classy mid-tempo pop of ‘Invisible‘, which was written and produced by Desmond Child, Andreas Carlsson and Chris Braide (who have worked with the likes of Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi).

It‘s been a rollercoaster ride to the top for the boys - Shane, Derek, Ryan, Damien and Dane - since they first crashed into the Irish charts with their debut single ‘Stronger Together.‘ Having hit the Smash Hits Tour at the end of last year, D-Side totally won over everybody being named as Best New Tour Act, as well as earning the attention of everyone from Company to The Sunday Times.

With a constant schedule of glamorous TV appearances, loads of shows in front of screaming fans and a debut album to come later in the year, there seems to be no band hotter than D-Side - and they certainly do not look like they will be invisible this summer.
