Gabriella Cilmi

Proving one of the biggest growers of the year so far,
Gabriella Cilmi’s debut single ‘Sweet About Me’ has held in UK singles chart Top 10 for the third consecutive week, it’s fourteenth week in the Top 40, with over 100,000 copies sold to date. The single is Top 3 on the UK Airplay Chart, featuring on the A-lists of Radio 1, Virgin Radio, Capital and Kiss, and on over 190 local radio playlists. Currently soundtracking a major TV ad campaign for Sure, ‘Sweet About Me’ is setting up to be one of the biggest sleeper hits since
The Gossip’s Standing In The Way Of Control which became one of the biggest selling singles of 2006 on re-release.
Gabriella made her debut performance at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday 29th June, and follows with festival appearances this year at T In The Park Festival and the Godiva Festival in July and the V Festival and Beautiful Days Festival in August.
Since her very first media outing in the UK, performing on BBC 2’s ‘Later With
Jools Holland’ before Christmas, the British public have proved incredibly reactive to 16 year old Australian/Italian singer-songwriter
Gabriella Cilmi, with her debut album ‘Lessons To Be Learned’ a constant in the UK Album Chart Top 10 for the past month. It has been certified Gold, with more than 100,000 copies sold.
Gabriella’s second single, ‘Save The Lies (Good To Me)’, is out on 11th August 2008. As ‘Sweet About Me’ catches Gabriella’s smokey blues-inflections, ‘Save The Lies’ showcases a rock roar worthy of
Grace Jones, and both tracks show a diversity few new artists can offer.
Proving that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough, Gabriella became the youngest ever artist to have a No.1 single in her homeland Australia recently with ‘Sweet About Me’, where it remains Top 2 for the twelfth week, five of which were spent at No.1, where she is the first female artist in over a decade to have a single remain at No.1 for so long, and the youngest ever to score a No.1 single.
Combining pure pop sass with a sophisticated husk of a voice, Radio 2 made ‘Lessons To Be Learned’ their Album Of The Week last month. Destined to be a contender for pop album of the year and made with Xenomania, the UK’s premier hit making production team, ‘Lessons To Be Learned’ is an outstanding debut from one of the most exciting new singers to emerge this year.
