Jessie J: The Sound of 2011
At the tender age of 22, pop star Jessie J already has more achievements under her belt than most. 2010 saw the singer burst onto the scene with hit single Do It Like A Dude and she hasn’t looked back since.
Having previously written tracks for Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera to name a few, Jessie J has finally released her own debut album entitled Who You Are which is compiled of a variety of tracks that show just how versatile the singer is. Debut single Do It Like A Dude is full of attitude and probably most appealing to those who want something they can dance along to, whereas motivational ballad Who You Are reveals a more sensitive side to the pop star.
It’s not only Jessie J’s music however that’s keeping her in the limelight but her fashion sense which is quirky and daring to say the least. So far the singer, who’s already been dubbed as a fashion icon to watch this year, has been spotted wearing designs from Vivienne Westwood and Hasan Hajazi placing her firmly on the style map.
Regardless of whether you love or hate Jessie J’s individual style, it’s hard not to like this up and coming pop star. Only two months into 2011 and the singer has already bagged herself the Critic’s Choice award at this year’s BRITS and a place at the top of the UK single charts for smash hit Do It Like A Dude. With the rest of the year seeing Jessie J kick off her UK tour and the release of further singles from Who You Are, it looks as though the singer is only destined to get bigger and bigger.
