Polydor Records/Music For A Better World is proud to announce the debut album release, ‘In The Hands Of Love’, from the hottest young Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo on March 13th.
The emotion of opera and the immediacy of pop are compellingly combined on Vittorio’s 14-track debut, which includes nine original compositions which already sound like classics, including the spine-tingling first track ‘Tu Sei’ . Nestled among them are ingenious covers of Stevie Wonder’s ‘All In Love Is Fair’ and Keane’s ‘Bedshaped’, as well as a beautiful duet with Katherine Jenkins, ‘Il Mio Miracolo’.
A soloist in the Sistine Chapel Choir at nine, dubbed “Il Pavarottino” by the Italian press after performing with the man himself at just 12 and the youngest Italian tenor ever to sing at Milan’s La Scala at 23, the 28-year-old is very much the opera singer’s opera singer. Though he is now a label mate with confirmed mainstream favourites Scissor Sisters and Snow Patrol, Vittorio’s deal with Polydor stipulates he can continue to perform three operas a year. He is currently rehearsing for the role of Cassio in Othello at the Liceu Opera House in Barcelona.
Polydor Co-President, Colin Barlow says: “Vittorio has the most amazing voice I’ve heard in 22 years in A&R. The album he has recorded for us is a lot more mainstream than anything he has done before, though it has lost none of the passion and drama of his ‘day job’ as a tenor.”
