Paul Chowdhry

BRITAIN‘S most controversial Asian comedian PAUL CHOWDHRY is available for interview to promote his appearance on the late-night television series "ALL NEW COMEDY STORE"  being broadcast on Channel Five on Wednesday 26th February 2003.

CHOWDHRY, 28 is the bad boy entertainer of the Brit comedy scene and is regarded as the outspoken nemesis of wholesome traditional Asian comics such as Meera Syal and  Kumars TV star Sanjeev Bhaskar... Paul loves to shock audiences with  razor- sharp satirical material on the Taliban and the Al Qaeda Network and character put-downs of topical personalities ranging from George Bush to Pop Idols Will Young and Gareth Gates and boy band Blue.

Paul‘s publicist Richard Brecker is convinced that many comedy clubs and members of the public simply cannot accept the image of a modern-day Asian comic who effs and blinds his way through his blistering set. Brecker believes they don‘t know what to expect when they see such a handsome, young clean cut Indian performer swearing on stage. Chowdhry loves to stun confused fans with angry but hilarious outbursts like: "Well, what did you expect for **** sake? I don‘t do that Goodness Gracious Me ****!"

Chowdhry is a British-born Actor and comedian with an Indian background. He trained in media production management and has appeared in a number of stage, television and film productions over the last few years. He‘s been cracking audiences up with laughter since 1998 at comedy venues up and down the country including the Edinburgh Festival and The Comedy Store.

He has also appeared in the films ‘Rogue Trader‘ playing a stock broker with Ewan McGregor and a comedy gangster in ‘It Was An Accident‘ which was released in October 2000. His most recent role is as a shopkeeper/DJ in the soon to be released Brit-Asian flick "Bollywood Queen".

In other television work, Paul has written and performed a piece where he plays an obsessed Arnold Schwarznegger fan in Channel Four‘s ‘Slam‘. For the BBC, Paul has been part of Noel Edmonds‘ famous ‘gotchas‘ for Mike Reid and jockey, Frankie Dettori. Other credits include The Y Files, Net.Comedy and Crime Weekly, where he played the lead role of a gang leader in a reconstruction.

Although Paul could have become a media production manager, the aspiring comedy career got in the way. Stand-up, television, films, tours, award shows, Paul has an envious CV that has established him as one of the top comedians on the British circuit.

The biggest gig of his stand-up career took place recently when Paul flew to New York to perform alongside one of his heroes - the sharp tongued US comedian - Chris Rock.

Paul also headlined BBC Mega Mela‘s first Malai Comedy night in March 2001, and performed at the prestigious Emma Awards ceremony before the likes of Cherie Blair, Sir Richard Attenborough, Chris Eubank and an audience of thousands in London a month later.

Once you‘ve seen his live show, Paul is seldom forgotten, you‘ll find yourself quoting lines from his performance for a long time afterwards! He is as the maxim goes ‘a man to watch‘.
