X factor finalist, Maria Lawson has announced that she will release her highly anticipated debut single ‘Sleepwalking’ on August 14th.
Predicted winner, Maria, famously left the show early when Louis Walsh opted to keep the Irish ‘Conway Sisters’ over her. This caused a national outcry, but London born Maria was the real winner with no less than four major labels offering her deals.
X factor was certainly not Maria’s first experience in the Music Business. At 18 she was offered a record deal with XL records, she has performed backing vocals for many artists including Gabrielle and Lemar, and signed a publishing deal at 23 which saw her writing songs for many European acts.
Maria used her experience to co-write her debut album, and flew out to LA to work with the people behind Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie In a Bottle’, Kelly Rowland’s “Stole” and Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten’. The result is a versatile album of great track after great track, all firmly rooted in ‘pop’ but with soul influences throughout.
