BsqB’s Ball 2009

This year The Ball will take place on the 3rd December. To mark the 5th year of The Berkeley square Ball, the organizers have chosen to take their unique extravaganza from summer to winter, changing their location for this occasion to the festive PORTMAN SQUARE, W1.

It will bring together once again London’s ‘crème de la crème’ for another magnificent evening. Celebrated interior designer Shaun Clarkson, appointed to create the look and feel of the event, will draw inspiration from our ‘New York New York’ theme for this year’s Ball. Planners are also proud to announce the return of Great Britain’s most revered Italian Michelin starred chef, the charismatic Giorgio Locatelli who will create and over see all three courses.

The capital’s finest cuisine is blended with unprecedented entertainment, attracting the UK’s most high net worth individuals and glamorous social scene, under the glistening stars of a romantic winter evening.

The infamous Nobu Berkeley Street and Taittinger Champagne will once again be hosting the reception parties on the night. The prestigious Home House will be hosting the launch party on the 14th September.

History
2005 saw the birth of a truly unique event in the garden of Berkeley Square created by live music mogul and entrepreneur Vince Power.

For this refreshing charity event, Vince brings together one of Britain’s most prolific chefs and combines a superb dinner with unprecedented entertainment. The Ball is now established as one of the most coveted events of the London social calendar. In fact the trend setting Sunday Times Style section has chosen this extravaganza as one of the top ten events of the season three years in a row.

Vince Power built his reputation on creating some of the most memorable live music entertainment of the last twenty years, most notably transforming the Glastonbury music festival into the international success it is today. 2008 saw the memorable performance by Amy Winehouse and at The Summer Ball in 2006, International Soul Legend James Brown performed an incredible set for 750 of London’s glitterati including Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, Olivia Inge and Mischa Barton. In 2005 Cat Deeley swung from the rafters, whilst Damian Lewis brought the celebrity crowd, including Tracey Emin and Sadie Frost to its knees with his unforgettable Elvis rendition.

Food
Jamie Oliver, supporter of all great causes, was the first chef to take on such a feat in 2005 and guests in 2006 enjoyed a menu created by Great Britain’s Italian Michelin starred chef, Giorgio Locatelli. In 2007, the ball was even more ambitious in its culinary aspirations, by bringing three brilliant British chefs together. The event was graced by Tom Aikens, Richard Corrigan and Bryn Williams to devise a wonderfully inspired ‘Best of British’ menu. Marco Pierre White – the named ‘Godfather of chefs’ with three Michelin stars under his belt, took on the culinary excellence for The Berkeley Square Ball for 2008.

Charity
For the fifth consecutive year, youth charity The Prince’s Trust will be The Ball’s benefiting charity.  The Trust helps change young lives and gives practical and financial support, developing key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation. It works with 14 to 30 year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. The Trust needs to raise around £1 million every week to continue its vital work. The Prince of Wales’s charity has helped more than 600,000 young people since 1976 and supports 100 more every working day. More than three in four young people The Trust helped last year moved into work, education or training. Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training. Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year.

The BsqB Ball is one of the few evenings of the year where you can celebrate superb food and entertainment whilst making a valid contribution to society.
