The Bourne Supremacy

Ones To Watch

By Richard Brecker in London on 6th August 2004

My guest and I commented at the end how little dialogue Matt Damon actually has but the tense plot, mood and atmosphere speaks for itself.

A thoroughly good yarn and classic thriller fodder, well handled by director former documentary doyen Paul Greengrass who cut his teeth on the Granada TV series "World In Action". In all, this is a fine sequel to the Bourne Identity.

The car chase scene in the tunnel is one of the most breath-taking I have seen - reminiscent of the de Niro movie "Ronin" - and drew warranted cheers and clapping from the audience at the end.

My companion said he enjoyed the film but perhaps somewhat accustomed to and jaded by all the amazing action movies that seem to have been feverishly produced in Hollywood and elsewhere in the last few years, thought the film "OK". This would indicate he gave it an average five or six out of ten but I found myself totally immersed  and loved it.

Having recently been myself to Moscow and Berlin, two central locations in the film, I found myself lapping up the action and the scenery.

And when I saw Matt Damon checking into the Hotel BRECKER, I could not believe my eyes ! How could I not give a good review to a film starring a Hotel using my name ???
