The Prince Edward Theatre comes to life as a French version of 'Oh What A Night' is performed on stage under the spotlight. It is immediately recognisable to me and the rest of the audience as toes start tapping and hands start clapping. We are introduced to our first Jersey Boy of the night Tommy De Vito (Jon Boyden) and that’s really when the fun begins.

 

Jersey Boys brings the 50s and 60s to the 21st century with a bang, reliving the story of the unforgettable Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Ryan Molloy who plays Frankie Valli sends a shiver down your spine as he sings those memorable high pitch notes with ease and charm. The boys as a collective win you over with their smooth sound and cheeky smiles prompting you to mirror the screaming girls of the 60's. During the night you forget where you are as you relive the classics 'Beggin' 'Big Girls Don't Cry' 'Sherry' plus many more. 

 

It’s not just the dance moves and live band that keep you hooked during the performance; the humour plays a strong role too. We are told the story of how four boys from Jersey, Frankie Valli (Ryan Molloy), Tommy De Vito (Jon Boydon), Nick massi (Eugene McCoy), Bob Gaudio (Matthew Whycliffe) formed to create one of the greatest groups in memory with a unique sound and sheer talent through comedy. Nick Massi (Eugene McCoy) providing most of the humour when he has the saddest story to tell. 

 

The language at times can be a little strong, but they are boys from Jersey after all. However families were still present on the night enjoying the story through laughter and song, Jersey Boys will you have dancing no matter how old you are. Once you go I can guarantee you will be singing those famous songs for days after. There is hype around this show for a reason. I urge you to go and see what the fuss is all about, it really is worth it.
