'Ministry of Food' Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum London presents a major new exhibition,    'The Ministry of Food'.


Celebrity guests organised by UPFRONT attended the opening of 'Ministry of Food' on the 9th February 2010, at the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Rd, SE1 6HZ.

Discover how the British public adapted to a world of food shortages by 'Lending a Hand on the Land', 'Digging for Victory', and taking up the 'War on Waste'. Follow the story of British food from farms, gardens and docks, to shops, kitchens, and canteens; visit reconstructions of a wartime greenhouse, grocer's shop, and a typical 1940s kitchen. Listen to advice on gardening from the BBC's Mr Middleton, on nutrition from the Radio Doctor, Dr Charles Hill, and on cooking from Marguerite Patten, who broadcast from the Kitchen Front during the war.


The exhibition runs from 12 February 2010 – 3 January 2011
