For weeks, rumours have been rife that Manchester United‘s star player David Beckham may be up for a transfer. Today those rumours were confirmed as United finally broke their silence and confirmed that Beckham is available.
He had previously been linked with Spain‘s Real Madrid and European champions AC Milan, but Old Trafford chief Peter Kenyon was in talks with Barcelona yesterday over an alleged £30 million deal. Kenyon told reporters "I cannot confirm anything at this stage. But put it this way, you won‘t look silly if you write the story."
Although the football economy is currently depressed, Barcelona are confident that England soccer captain Beckham will get the cash rolling in. They are reported to be in debt to the tune of a massive £90 million.
