Ross Kemp Returns To EastEnders?

13th June 2003

Our boss Richard Brecker is convinced that there is substance to the rumour that Ross Kemp could soon be making a dramatic return to EastEnders.   An ex EastEnders colleague of the 39 year-old actor was heard gossiping excitedly over drinks that Ross is in deep discussions to return to Albert Square, and that it could be sooner than we think!

Kemp who played Grant Mitchell, left EastEnders in 1999 amid a blaze of publicity and was then snapped by ITV where he has gone on to star in a number of projects "Hero of the Hour", "A Christmas Carol", "Without Motive" and "Ultimate Force".  Kemp who played Grant Mitchell left the soap when Grant fled the Square to take daughter Courtney to Brazil.

If Kemp does return he will be the latest in a long line to re-appear in a hit soap.  It was announced recently that Dirty Den played by Leslie Grantham will be making a sensational return to Albert Square in September.

The Celebrities Worldwide research team takes a slightly more rational view than Brecker about the likelihood of Ross‘s return. We believe if Kemp does come back it might not be for 9 to 12 months as he is to star in an American TV version of the epic Spartacus.  Kemp will play Chinnar, teaching Spartacus to be a Gladiator and co-stars opposite ER heart throb Goran Visnjic.

After running around as a Gladiator, Kemp is preparing to play Petruchio in a stage production of The Taming of the Shrew, his first treading of the boards for 8 years.

But Ross has reportedly said "never say never" when asked about his playing of EastEnders hardman Grant Mitchell again.

This year the sister company of Celebrities Worldwide Ltd, Upfront booked Ross Kemp who is married to The Sun‘s Editor Rebekah Wade to star in the prestigious "Best of British" campaign for trendy menswear UK chain Burton.  He has been joined in the campaign by fellow celebrities Vinnie Jones, Nick Moran, Ian Wright, Martin Kemp, Footballers Wives duo Gary Lucy and Christian Solimeno, Vernon Kay and Goldie all of whom were secured by Upfront.

Doubtless Ross‘s agent, the all-powerful Michael Foster and the BBC EastEnders Press office will remain tight-lipped about Ross returning to Albert Square but watch this space……………

Foster famously steered the career of TV presenter and media mogul Chris Evans and was one of the driving forces of top London agency ICM before branching out.
